Local Style was created to represent locals worldwide. From day one it has been a family owned and operated company! Local Style began in Aptos, California in the mid 80's and was officially trademarked by 1989. It started as a custom screen printing shop and a clothing line. The doors were closed a few years later but the idea didn't disappear!

I started shaping my first surfboard when I was 16(circa 2002). By the time I finished shaping it I wanted to put a logo on it and my dad recommended that I use his old logo... Local Style.

After I had a few boards under my belt I started putting the Local Style logo on all of my T-shirts and giving some of them to my friends at school. . After seeing the reaction to the t-shirts, I switched gears and focused on screen printing opposed to shaping. I just needed to figure out how to get more of them and higher quality.

A good friend mentioned that one of our friend's big brothers had a screen printing business. I quickly began going over there and started cleaning screens and squeegees in order to learn how to print my own shirts. After learning the ins and outs of the screen printing business, I slowly acquired all of the equipment that I needed to turn my garage into a screen printing shop. Here I am today printing every garment by hand.
