After a bloody downhill skateboard crash Dale Smith began developing his own brand of safety equipment - Smith Safety Gear. Smith started making recaps for other popular brands of knee pads in 1984. He inked a deal with Vision Skateboards in the mid 90s, and now his full line of knee pads, elbow pads, and safety helmets.
